The Well Seasoned Clarinet

The cycle of the four Seasons has always fascinated mankind. It aspired many great masterpieces and compositions, be it in 18th cen. Venice, 19th cen. St Petersburg or in 20th cen. New york or Buenos Aires.

Even today, in the time of intercontinental flights and instant digital communication , our life is still governed by the cycle of the seasons. The aim of our Project is not just to look back at those masterpieces, from Vivaldi’s “Summer” concerto to Gershwin’s “Summertime” but rather to re interpret them in a new, fresh and contemporary manner.

All new arrangements, written especially by Ronen Nissan for this project for Andy Miles, put the solo Clarinet in the foreground, with the orchestra not as a mere background but rather as an equal partner in the musical dialogue (see full program details below).

Program:
  • Vivaldi: Le Quattro Stagioni (The Four Seasons) – a new contemporary arrangement for Clarinet and strings
  • Tchaikovsky: Les Saisons (excerpts arranged for chamber orchestra)
  • Piazzolla: Quatro Estaciones Portenas (version for Clarinet and chamber orchestra)
  •  Jazz Seasons: Summertime, Autumn Leaves, Stormy Weather, I love Paris in the Springtime (version for Clarinet and chamber orchestra)
