Ronen Nissan, conductor, arranger & guitarist
Ronen Nissan, born in Israel, serves as Music Director of the Choir and Chamber Orchestra of St. Stephen’s, Tulln, Austria, where he regularly leads performances of sacred music. Mr. Nissan served as Assistant Conductor with the Neue Oper Wien (New Opera Vienna) and the Wiener Operntheater (Vienna Opera Theater).
Mr. Nissan recently let the soloists, choir, ballet and orchestra of the MDT “Konstantin Kisimov” (Bulgaria) in a series of Strauss Gala concerts for the New Year. With the same orchestra he led a program which included his own arrangements of Hollywood film music, a project which he will repeat in the city of Stara Zagora in March 2015.
In September 2014 Mr. Nissan has led a performance of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with the Bohuslav Martinu Philharmonic (Czech Republic), after which he was awarded a Bronze Medal by the Bishop of Lower Austria for his services in the field of sacred music. Last year he also conducted for the first time the Opole Philharmonic Orchestra (Poland).
His Project, “The Well Seasoned Clarinet”, written and arranged especially for clarinetist Andy Miles, had its premiere with the Duisburg Philharmonic orchestra (Germany) in 2013. A performance with the WDR radio symphony orchestra (Cologne) is scheduled for the 2015-6 season.
During the 2012/3 Holiday season Mr. Nissan has led the German Radio Orchestra in a 13 – concert, 9- cities tour of China.
In his native country Mr. Nissan has conducted the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra in a series of concerts for young adults, the Israel Netanya Kibbutz orchestra and the Ashdod Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Nissan also led the spirit Of Europe Chamber Orchestra (Austria) on two concert tours of Israel. He worked with orchestras in Italy (Orchestra Sinfonica di Terni), in the Czech Republic (Budweis Kammerphilharmonie), in Argentina (Santa Fe, Rosario, Parana and Bahia Blanca)as well as in Liechtenstein and Turkey. He led the Berliner Symphoniker in a concert dedicated to the film music of John Williams.
Ronen Nissan is also an active arranger and guitarist, and leads the Vienna Tango Quintet, an ensemble enjoying growing popularity.
Mr. Nissan earned both his Master’s and Bachelor’s degree at the Mannes College of Music in New York City.
